Maison Castanié is a French-inspired lifestyle store, deli and coffee shop on the banks of the River Dee in Royal Deeside.
Founded by husband and wife Marc and Claire Castanié, we've gathered a considered collection of things for the home, the table, and the every day, and come autumn, things to wear. All to be enjoyed slowly, and returned to often.

Our Story
Marc was born in Millau, a small town in southern France close to the caves of Roquefort, where his grandmother, Mamie, and her family still live.
We came to Milton of Crathes by chance, days after our wedding in October 2025 - the sun was out, the sky was blue, the river was quiet, and we felt our shoulders drop. If you don't know the location, it's a dreamy riverside estate, with original steadings and cottages home to a number of small local businesses.
Maison Castanié has been a long held dream for years. The moment we found its home, things moved fast.
Visit
Come for coffee. Stay for a jambon beurre, enjoy a gateaux from pastry chef Graham Sutherland, a slow wander through the homewares and deli, and of course a good chat. There's also a play-park, picnic grounds, and a gorgeous walk up to Crathes Castle.
We're tucked into a steading at Milton of Crathes - twenty-five minutes from Aberdeen, seven from Banchory, just beside the River Dee. Free onsite parking.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

The Shop
A small, curated edit of things we love: cast-iron cookware, fine ceramics, notebooks, Laguiole knives, French soaps, and a small shelf of reading.
A French pantry stocked with imported French olive oils, olives, mustards, tinned fish, cassoulet, juice, crisps and more.
Imported specialist French Cheese and charcuterie, hand-filled baguettes and fresh soup. Eat beside the burn, settle into the picnic area overlooking the river, or, if you can wait, take home.
Croissants, pain au chocolat and other viennoiseries, cakes and artisan chocolates by pastry chef Graham Sutherland. Our own co-curated coffee blend, roasted with Haar - to drink in or take home.
A considered clothing collection joins us this autumn. Fewer things, made well, made to last.
