Someone guessed it - our premier clothing brand at Maison Castanié is the brilliant Universal Works.
It's a brand we've long admired for its design, the quality of its material sourcing, and the care given to how it's made. We've been working on bringing it into the shop for a while now, and we were thrilled to open the first delivery of our autumn / winter 2026 collection last week. Next month, it'll make it's way onto the shop floor and online for you too!
The brand behind the brand
Universal Works was founded in 2009 by David Keyte, working from his kitchen table with sole purpose of creating real, honest clothing built on fit and good designed, never over-designed.
David is a pretty cool guy. Growing up in the Midlands in the seventies, he watched his working-class family share a love of dressing well - in their workwear, and for the weekend too. His inspiration rooted in his family, alongside a lifetime of creative and cultural pursuits and thirty years in the fashion industry, including time at Paul Smith & Maharishi. It shows in the clothes: heritage and context, mixed with a genuinely contemporary eye, and a little joie de vivre too, in our opinion!
Still independent, still small and stocked from LA to Seoul. And, we're proud to be the only stockist north of the Scottish Central Belt.
Why Universal Works
Universal Works was the obvious choice for Marc, it represents all that he loves of fashion and design. It's also personal. Universal Works was Marc's choice for his own wedding suit and shirt - so when it came to choosing our first clothing brand, there really was no other contender.
What's next
Over the coming weeks you'll hear more from Marc on both our blog and Instagram, on why he admires this brand so much, why he loves wearing it, this new collection and what we should all be buying this season.
You'll be able to shop the new autumn/winter collection in store and online the coming weeks. Make sure you're signed up to our newsletter to be first to know the launch date - and maybe even get a first look in store, before anyone else - if you're quick... Chic!
À bientôt
