Conservas Yurrita is a family-owned business founded in 1867 in Mutriku, in the Spanish Basque Country — the oldest canning company in the Basque Country and one of the oldest agri-food industries still in operation in Spain.
After five generations and almost 150 years, Yurrita's commitment to quality and tradition remains unchanged. Their Cantabrian anchovies are bought directly from fishing boats, selecting only the freshest and optimum-sized fish. Salted and cured for a minimum of 20 months in traditional cans, the fillets are then prepared entirely by hand — carefully washed to achieve the right saltiness and meticulously trimmed to remove all bones.
Yurrita sources only from fisheries that respect traditional fishing arts, Marine Sanctuaries, and Sustainable Fishing Management.
